Kansas City Bus Charter – Keeps a Native American heritage

Kansas City is the largest city in the United States state of Missouri. At the junction of the Missouri and Kansas rivers, Kansas City is located in the western part of Missouri State. Kansas City is part of Jackson, Clay, Platte and Cass counties. To take advantage of the growing fur trade with the Kansa, Osage, Wyandotte and other tribes, French trader Francois Chouteau came from Saint Louis to establish a trading post on the site of present day Kansas City, in eighteen hundred and twenty one, which was the year in which Missouri entered the Union. John Calvin McCoy laid out and developed a settlement called Westport Landing in eighteen hundred and thirty three. The community eventually became the Town of Kansas. In eighteen hundred and fifty, it was incorporated as a city. In eighteen hundred and eighty nine, it was renamed Kansas City. The city’s Native American heritage is reflected in the name. The site of city was within the territory of the Kansa or Kaw Indians. The city was the starting point for gold prospectors and settlers heading westwards, in the middle of eighteen hundred and eighties. Thereby the city grew rapidly in the period. Also contributing to city’s growth were the coming of Missouri-Pacific Railroad in eighteen hundred and sixty five and the spanning of the Missouri River by the Hannibal Bridge in eighteen hundred and sixty nine. Kansas City also thrived as a center of cattle business of United States.

The city is the site of the Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art and the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art and Design.
