The city acts as the wholesale and distributing center for the state. Stockyards of Oklahoma City are considered the largest stocker and feeder cattle market in the world. Oklahoma City is now encouraging a private entrepreneurial environment and a more diversified economy, following the decline of the energy sector. If one takes service sector into account, health services are projected to grow, followed by retail trade and business services. A major city employer is nearby Tinker Air Force Base. It is one of the world’s largest air depots.
