Virginia Beach Bus Charter – A popular vacation spot

The Colony, including the area which was to be Virginia Beach, was divided into the original eight shires of Virginia, in sixteen hundred and thirty four. They were soon renamed as counties. One County was named “New Norfolk County” in sixteen hundred and thirty seven. The following year, New Norfolk County was split into Upper Norfolk County, which was soon renamed Nansemond County and Lower Norfolk County.

Virginia Beach

In sixteen hundred and ninety one, Lower Norfolk County was divided to from Norfolk County and Princess Anne County. The small resort area of Virginia Beach grew in Princess Anne County, beginning in the late nineteenth century, particularly after the arrival of rail service and electricity and the opening of the original Princess Anne Hotel at the oceanfront near the tiny community of Seatack, in eighteen hundred and eighty eight. In eighteen hundred and ninety one, guests at the new hotel watched the wreck and rescue efforts of the United States Life Saving Service for the Norwegian bark “Dictator”. The ship’s figurehead, which washed up on the beach several days later, was erected as a modest monument to the victims and rescuers along the oceanfront for more than fifty years and later became the inspiration for the current matching Norwegian Lady Monuments in Virginia Beach and Moss, Norway sculpted by Ornulf Bast.

The completion of Virginia Beach Boulevard in nineteen hundred and twenty two, which extended from Norfolk to the oceanfront, opened the way for automobiles, buses, trucks and passenger rail service to the resort which was initially dependent on railroad and electric trolley service. The growing resort of Virginia Beach became an incorporated town in nineteen hundred and six. Over the next forty five years, Virginia Beach continued to grow in popularity as a seasonal vacation spot and casinos gave way to amusement parks and family oriented attractions. In nineteen hundred and twenty seven, the Cavalier Hotel opened and became a popular vacation spot. In nineteen hundred and fifty two, Virginia Beach became politically independent of Princess Anne County as an independent city. In nineteen hundred and sixty three, after a referendum City of Virginia Beach and Princess Anne County were consolidated. The new, much larger independent city retained the better known name of the Virginia Beach resort.

Tulsa Bus Charter – Gateway to “Green Country”

Tulsa is located in the north eastern corner of Oklahoma, ninety nine miles northeast of Oklahoma City. It is situated between the edge of the Great Plains and the foot of the Ozarks in a generally forested region of rolling hills. Tulsa touches the eastern extent of the Cross Timbers, an eco-region of forest and prairie transitioning from the drier plains of the west to the wetter forests of the east. With a wetter climate than points westward, Tulsa serves as a gateway to “Green Country”, a popular and official designation for northeast Oklahoma that stems from the region’s green vegetation and relatively large number of hills and lakes compared to central and western areas of Oklahoma, which lie largely in the drier Great Plains region of the Central United States. Containing seven of Oklahoma’s eleven eco-regions and more than half of its state parks, north eastern Oklahoma, located near the western edge of the United States Interior Highlands, is the most topographically diverse part of the state. The region encompasses thirty lakes or reservoirs and borders the neighboring states of Kansas, Missouri and Arkansas.

Tulsa is split by the prominent Arkansas River, which flows in a wide, sandy bottomed channel. Its flow through the Tulsa area is controlled by upstream flood control reservoirs. Its width and depth can vary widely throughout the year, such as during periods of high rainfall or severe drought. However, in the area adjacent to downtown Tulsa, a low water dam maintains full channel at all times. This portion of the river is known as Zink Lake. Tulsa is heavily wooded and with abundant parks and water areas. The city also holds several prominent hills with names such as “Shadow Mountain” and “Turkey Mountain”.

These hills create   varied terrains, especially in its southern portions. While central and northern sections of Tulsa are generally flat to gently undulating, the Osage Hills extension into the north western part of the city further varies the landscape. Holmes Peak, in the northwest corner of the city, is the tallest point in five counties at one thousand and thirty feet.

Tucson Bus Charter – A history with Spanish overtones

Jesuit missionary Eusebio Francisco Kino visited the Santa Cruz River valley in sixteen hundred and ninety two. In seventeen hundred, he founded the Mission San Xavier del Bac about seven miles upstream from the site of settlement of Tucson. A separate Convento settlement was founded downstream along the then flowing Santa Cruz River, near the base of what is now “A” mountain. The Spanish subsequently established a walled fortress named Presidio San Augustin del Tucson on August twenty of seventeen hundred and seventy five, near the present downtown Pima County Courthouse. During the Spanish period of the presidio, attacks such as the Second Battle of Tucson were repeatedly mounted by Apaches. Eventually the town came to be called “Tucson”. It became a part of Mexico after Mexico gained independence from Spain in eighteen hundred and twenty one. Tucson was captured by the Mormon Battalion during the Mexican-American War but later returned to Mexican control. Tucson was not included in the Mexican Cession. It was following the Gadsden Purchase in eighteen hundred and fifty three that Tucson became a part of the United States of America, although the American military did not formally take over control of the community until March of eighteen hundred and fifty six. In eighteen hundred and fifty seven Tucson became a stage station on the San Antonio- San Diego Mail Line and in eighteen hundred and fifty eight became third division headquarters of the Butterfield Overland Mail until the line shut down in March of eighteen hundred and sixty one.

During early nineteen hundreds, the United States Veterans Administration had begun construction on the present Veterans Hospital. Many veterans who had been gassed in World War First and were in need of respiratory therapy began coming to Tucson after the war, due to the clean dry air.

Seattle Bus Charter – Located between water bodies

Seattle is located between Puget Sound, which is an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, to the west and Lake Washington to the east. Elliott Bay, the chief harbour of Seattle, is an inlet of Puget Sound. Kitsap Peninsula and Olympic Mountains on the Olympic Peninsula are to the west, beyond Puget Sound and to the east, beyond Lake Washington and the eastside suburbs, are Lake Sammamish and the Cascade Range.  Lake Washington’s waters flow to Puget Sound through the Lake Washington Ship Canal which consists of two manmade canals, Lake Union and the Hiram M. Chittenden Locks at Salmon Bay which ends in Shilshole Bay. The sea, rivers, forests, lakes and fields surrounding Seattle were once rich enough to support one of the world’s few sedentary hunter-gatherer societies. The surrounding area is apt for sailing, skiing, bicycling, camping and hiking year round. This feature among other things attracts tourists to Seattle.

Seattle is itself hill, but not in a uniform way. Like Rome, the city is said to lie on seven hills. There are varying lists for seven hills, but typically include Capitol Hill, First Hill, West Seattle, Beacon Hill, Queen Anne, Magnolia and the former Denny Hill. The Wallingford, Mount Baker and Crown Hill neighborhoods are technically located on hills as well. Many of the hilliest areas are near the city center, with Capitol Hill, First Hill and Beacon Hill collectively constituting something of a ridge along an isthmus between Elliott Bay and Lake Washington. The break in the ridge between First Hill and Beacon Hill is manmade. It is the result of two of the many regarding projects that reshaped the topography of the city center. The topography of the city center was also changed by the construction of a seawall and the artificial Harbor Island at the mouth of the city’s industrial Duwamish Waterway.

The Harbor Island was completed in nineteen hundred and nine.  The highest point within city limits is at High Point in West Seattle.

The Guadalupe River runs from the Santa Cruz Mountains, which separate the South Bay from the Pacific Coast, flowing north through San Jose, ending in the San Francisco Bay at Alviso. Along the southern part of the river is the neighborhood of Almaden Valley, originally named for the mercury mines which produced mercury needed for gold extraction from quartz during the California Gold Rush as well as mercury fulminate blasting caps and detonators for the United States military from eighteen hundred and seventy to nineteen hundred and forty five. East of the Guadalupe River, Coyote Creek also flows to South San Francisco Bay and originates on Mount Sizer near Henry W. Coe State Park and the surrounding hills in the Diablo Range, northeast of Morgan Hill, California.

The lowest point in San Jose is thirteen feet below sea level at the San Francisco Bay in Alviso and the highest is two thousand one hundred and twenty five feet. San Jose has taken several steps to reduce light pollution, including replacing all street lamps and outdoor lighting in private developments with low pressure sodium lamps, due to the proximity to Lick Observatory atop Mount Hamilton. To recognize the city’s efforts, the asteroid six thousand two hundred and sixteen San Jose was named after the city.
San Jose lies close to the Pacific Ocean. San Francisco Bay is also close, with a small portion of San Jose’s northern border touching the bay.

Sacramento Bus Charter – testimony to Chinese resilience

Incorporated on February twenty seventh of eighteen hundred and fifty, Sacramento is the oldest incorporated city in California. During the early eighteen hundred and fifties, the Sacramento valley was devastated by floods, fires and cholera epidemics. Despite this, because of its position just downstream from the Mother lode in the Sierra Nevada, the new city grew and its population increased.

There are many bus companies in Sacramento which provide the services of bus charter and bus rental. Prompt Travel Group is one of the prominent among them. Sacramento has a story of Chinese resilience to say and its Chinatown stands testimony to this. Throughout the early eighteen hundred and forties and fifties, China was at war with Great Britain and France in the First and Second Opium Wars. The wars, along with endemic poverty in China, made many Chinese immigrants herd to America. Many first came to San Francisco, which was then the largest city in California, which was known as “Dai Fow”, meaning the big city and some came eventually to Sacramento, then the second largest city in California and known as “Yee Fow”, meaning Second City. Many of these immigrants came in hopes for a better life as well as the possibility of finding gold in the foothills east of Sacramento. Sacramento’s Chinatown was located on “I” Street from Second to Sixth streets. Throughout Sacramento’s Chinatown history there were fires, acts of discrimination and prejudicial legislations such as the Chinese Exclusion Act that was not repealed until nineteen hundred and forty three. The Chinese remained resilient despite these efforts. They built their buildings out of bricks just as the building guidelines established. They helped build part of the railroads that span the city as well as making a great contribution to the transcontinental railroad that spans the United States. They also helped build the levees within Sacramento and the surroundings. As a result, they are a well recognized part of Sacramento’s history and heritage.

While most of Sacramento’s Chinatown has now been razed, a small Chinatown mall remains, as well as a museum dedicated to the history of Sacramento’s Chinatown and the contributions Chinese Americans have made to the city. Amtrak sits along what was part of Sacramento’s Chinatown “I” Street.

Oklahoma City Bus Charter – Recently glorified

During nineteen hundred and nineties, Oklahoma City underwent massive redevelopment. It was the result of city passing a substantial redevelopment package known as the Metropolitan Area Projects (MAPS) in nineteen hundred and ninety three. Its intention was to rebuild the core of the city with civic projects to establish more activities and life to downtown. Subsequently, Oklahoma City added a new baseball park, central library, renovations to the civic center, convention center and fairgrounds; and a water canal in the Bricktown entertainment district. Water taxis transport passengers within the district, adding color and activity along the canal. MAPS has become one of the most successful public-private partnerships undertaken in the united States, exceeding three billion dollars in investments. As a result of MAPS, the population living in downtown housing has greatly increased, together with demand for residential amenities, such as grocery, services and other retail stores. Since the completion of MAPS project, the downtown area has seen continued development. Several downtown buildings are undergoing renovation or restoration. Some prominent buildings of them are Skirvin Hotel and First National Center.

When, on April nineteenth of nineteen hundred and ninety five, Timothy McVeigh set off a bomb in front of the Murrah building, residents of Oklahoma City suffered substantial losses. The building was destroyed, more than hundred nearby buildings were severely damaged and one hundred and sixty eight people were killed. The site has been commemorated as the Oklahoma City National Memorial and Museum. Since its opening in two thousand, more than three million people have visited the site. Every year on April nineteenth, survivors, families and friends return to the memorial to read the names of each person lost.

The “Core to Shore” project plans to relocate I Forty one mile south and replace it with a boulevard to create a landscaped entrance to the city. This also allows the central portion of the city to expand south and connect with the shore of the Oklahoma River.

Portland Bus Charter – Home to many volcanoes

Portland was a prominent port in the Pacific Northwest for much of the nineteenth century, until eighteen hundred and nineties when Seattle took its place. Portland’s location was the reason for it. Portland was accessible both to the Pacific Ocean via the Willamette and the Columbia rivers and to the agricultural Tualatin Valley via the “Great Plank Road” through a canyon in the West Hills, which is the route of current day US Route Twenty six. This gave Portland an advantage over nearby ports. But when Seattle’s deepwater harbour was connected to the rest of the mainland by rail, it afforded an inland route without the treacherous navigation of the Columbia River.

Portland

There are many bus companies which provide the services of bus charter and bus rental in Portland. Prompt Travel Group is one of the prominent among them. Prompt Travel Group also offers coach rental, school bus rental, coach bus rental, mini bus rental, party bus rental etc. Tourists are taken on bus tour in coach bus. Other than tourists, residents, those on travel for official purposes and people who embark on journey for ceremonies, events, conventions etc. also make use of services of Prompt Travel Group. Schools which are intent on comfortable and safe travel for their wards also bank on Prompt Travel Group.

“The City of Roses” is the most common nickname for Portland. In two thousand and three, this became the city’s official nickname. Other nicknames include the City of Bridges, Stumptown, Bridgetown, Rip City, Little Beirut, Beervana or Beertown, P-Town, Soccer City USA, Portlandia and the synecdoche PDX.

Portland lies at the northern end of Oregon’s most populated region, the Willamette Valley. Although almost all of Portland lies within Multnomah County, small portions of the city lie within Clackamas and Washington Counties. The Willamette River runs north through the city center, separating the east and west sections of the city before veering northwest to join with the Columbia River, a short distance north of the city. Columbia River separates the state of Washington from the state of Oregon.

Portland lies on top of an extinct Plio-Pleistocene volcanic field known as the Boring Lava Field. The Boring Lava Field includes at least thirty two cinder cones such as Mount Tabor and its center lies in Southeast Portland. The dormant but potentially active volcano Mount Hood to the east of Portland is easily visible from much of the city during clear weather. The active volcano Mount Saint Helens to the north in Washington is visible in the distance from high elevation locations in the city and is close enough to have dusted the city with volcanic ash during recent explosion. Mount Adams, another prominent volcano, is also visible from parts of the city.
